When we found out we were having a baby boy, I couldn’t wait to decorate his nursery! While the rest of our home is very modern with bohemian touches, I couldn’t help but make Oliver’s room super cutesy. I’ve been talking about doing a nursery reveal forever, but things have gotten so crazy it’s been hard to get it together. So I quickly took some photos with my iPhone so you could see it. I’ve also linked some of the items found throughout his nursery.
WHY ELEPHANT THEME?
I’ve been a huge fan of elephants for awhile. Not only are they adorable, but they also represent strength and loyalty. They’re very social animals and are incredibly smart, plus the mama elephants are amazing! They spend their days loving and teaching their babies, and when they sense danger they huddle around to protect their young. They also play together by rolling around in the mud and even mourn the death of loved ones. They’re incredible creatures!
CONVERTIBLE CRIB
We love love love our Delta Children Archer 4 in 1 crib! It converts from a crib to a toddler bed, daybed and full size bed with headboard and footboard! The bed will essentially grow with Ollie.
DIY LOVE YOU FOREVER WALL ART
If you haven’t read the book Love You Forever you really should (and grab a tissue because it’s precious). It’s been a favorite in my family for years, and I wanted to incorporate it into Ollie’s room somehow. We actually wanted to put up a tree decal over his crib, but it didn’t come with the right pieces. So, I ended up printing out these signs and framing them. Mike and I hung them over his crib and it makes me smile overtime I see them.
OFFICE TO NURSERY
When we first moved into our house, we had it all painted. Every room was white, with the exception of my office, which we painted gray. Well, I had that office for about one month and then we were pregnant! We turned the desk into a changing table. We bought the Serta Changing Top which fit the Summer Infant Changing pad perfectly. We also got a navy fitted changing pad sheet to go over top so we could easily take it off and wash it. Ollie loves that changing table!
DIY OLIVER SIGN
Mike and I actually made this! We were looking at signs online and couldn’t find one we liked, so we decided to make it ourselves. We actually found the wood and letters at Wal-Mart! I painted the letters navy and hot glued them on the wood. Mike hung it up, which proved to be more difficult than we originally thought because the wood is actually in two pieces.
CUBBIES
These cubbies are perfect for extra swaddle blankets, burping clothes, books, bibs, etc. We also put a black and white picture of my Momma touching my tummy when I was pregnant with Ollie. It’s covered with his first rosary, which was a gift from his GiGi (Mike’s mom).
GOLD ACCENTS
We decided to go with gold accents because that’s what we have in the rest of our home. We figured it would be nice to keep that part of the room coherent with the rest of the house because we can trade things out if we wanted. We also have a lot of navy throughout the house.
BLACK OUT CURTAINS
Black out curtains are really helpful when we’re trying to get Ollie to sleep. When we don’t want the nursery too dark we just pull them back and tuck them behind his elephant hamper (so cute, right?!) I also used one of his stuffed animals as a holder for the other side of the curtain.
Love, Lindsey
