What does it do? Does it really work? Here’s my honest review of The Derma Roller System…
(P.S. I do have some makeup on in these photos, but I didn’t touch up my skin in any way. I’m wearing E.L.F. golden bronzer (used on my eyelids and cheeks. Got some in my hairline because I was in a rush #typical), MAC eyebrow pencil, Bite lipstick in Honesuckle and some mascara.
I’m a total nut about taking care of my skin. I started using anti-wrinkle cream when I was 22 years old and always take off my makeup before bed. I also exfoliate every morning. But even with a strict skincare schedule – you’re bound to get a few wrink-a-dinks and some not-so-smooth spots.
THE CLAIM…
The Derma Roller System claims to naturally promote skin repair. It’s supposed to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, scars, stretch marks, cellulite AND promote smoother skin. This product is also supposed to restore hair! It’s been featured on shows like “The Dr.’s” and “Rachel Ray”… so when they offered to send me the product for review I couldn’t wait to try it out.
MY RESULTS…
Before I decided that I wanted to do a post on this particular product, I tried it out for awhile. (I have to if I want to give you an honest review, right?!) Well… I can HONESTLY say that my skin DID in fact feel smoother. I also experienced another bonus… my face wasn’t as broken out. I seem to always have a few annoying red bumps around my chin area, and this product actually helped!
HOW IT WORKS…
Your skin has to be replenished with new cells if you want that healthy (J-Lo) glow. The Derma Roller System renews your skin cells by using “Collagen Induction Therapy” (C.I.T.). It’s a process where the derma rollers’ 200 fine needles are rolled over your skin to cause your pores to open temporarily. While your pores are opened, it triggers your body’s natural healing process to heal the pores. This stimulates collagen and elastin production. If you add nourishing creams to your skin while your pores are open… your skins absorption of these vitamins, enzymes, etc. are enhanced! Make sense? Good.
WHERE IT CAN BE USED…
The derma roller can actually be used on your face, body and scalp. You can also choose from multiple needle lengths depending on what you plan on using it for. I received the 1.0mm because I can use it on my face and body. So far I’ve only used it on my face (do not use on your eyelids or lips), and I always do my treatments before bedtime.
MY FACIAL TREATMENT ROUTINE…
- Wash and dry hands and the area you’re treating with soap and water.
- Roll the derma roller gently over the area you’re treating 4 times vertically, 4 times horizontally, 4 times diagonally to the left and 4 times diagonally to the right. This stimulates the collagen and elastin formation in your skin.
- Apply the collagen cream on your face for at least 10 minutes.
- Treat once per day, up to five times a week when using the 0.5mm option. Treat only once every 3 to 4 weeks when using the 1.0mm option.
- After you’re finished with your treatment, rinse the derma roller under hot water. Then, disinfect by placing it head first in a half glass of disinfectant (I used rubbing alcohol) for 30 minutes to an hour. Lay it on a clean towel. Once it’s dry, you can put it back in it’s case.
I haven’t used my roller on my body or hair yet, but when you receive your product, they give instructions for those types of treatments as well. The website is also very informative so you can decide what type of needle size would work best for you.
I experienced redness after my treatments, but it’s the same kind of redness I get after I exfoliate my skin. It only lasts for a few minutes and then you’re good to go.
THE BOTTOM LINE…
I have to say that I’m EXTREMELY happy with my results. My only regret is not taking before and after pictures for you all. But, hopefully you know by now if I’m taking the time to write about a product, then I really do believe in it. I’m constantly talking to my friends and family about new products I come across and I love hearing about what products other people swear by as well.
So, I want to know…have you tried The Derma Roller System before? What did you think? Have any skincare tips for me? Leave a comment below and let me know 🙂

I haven’t heard much about this roller, but it sounds like an awesome product! For such good results, it seems fairly simple to use, too, which is a bonus. Thanks for sharing!

It sounds like a pretty cool product! Glad to hear you had good results.
This looks so cool but the thought of 200 tiny needles also kind of terrifies me. Luckily, I´m not quite there yet for wrinkles and not-so-smooth spots but I´m saving this post for when I´m ready!
