Some trends are seasonal. Plaid pops up in fall/winter. Floral is very spring. But there are some prints that are worthy of being worn all year-long… and snakeskin is one of them. Here are my top snakeskin picks under $100…
THE RISE OF THE SNAKESKIN PRINT TREND
First, let’s talk about where snakeskin has been popping up. First of all, it’s all over Instagram. As a fashion blogger, I follow a lot of accounts that document street style is cities around the world as well as fashion magazines that showcase the latest designs from top brands. Just by simply scrolling through my feed, it’s easy to see that snakeskin is, and will continue to be, the print that is taking over 2019.
It really shouldn’t come as a surprise considering the rise of animal prints we’ve been seeing lately (I’m looking at you cheetah). One of my favorite things about snakeskin is that it can actually serve as a neutral. I know that seems crazy, but in the right tones – it really can be worn with pieces you already have in your closet.
Looking to make an even bigger statement? Great! There are a variety of colorful snakeskin pieces out there that can serve as the perfect statement item in your outfit.
WHAT I WORE
I chose to get in on the trend with a pair of flare snakeskin pants. There are plenty versions out there, but I came across this pair from Misguided and LOVE the fit. They’re stretchy so they hug all the right places. Plus, they’re high waisted, which I love, and only $27!!! I sized down because I wanted them a little tighter, which is totally out for the norm for me considering I prefer my clothing a little looser. I’m glad I did because they hug me in all the right places.
I paired them with a black turtleneck from Zara (similar style here) and a fringe faux leather jacket (sold out, but similar version here – and on sale for %60!). I also love this Marc Jacobs bag right now – especially the guitar strap detail.
OTHER SNAKESKIN PIECES UNDER $100
One thing about trends, they fade. While I do think this particular trend will stick around for awhile, I still don’t think it’s worth investing a lot of money in. Good thing there are so many budget-friendly pieces out there that will allow you to rock the trend without breaking the bank. Here are some of the fab snakeskin pieces I’ve been loving lately…
