Did you know that 1 in 10 women reported having a great hair day on the reg? Well, that’s the latest stat according to a Yale University study and I definitely wasn’t one of those women, so I decided to take the 14 Day Hair Challenge with Pantene. Read on to hear how it went…
THE BEFORE
At the start of this challenge, my hair was feeling extremely dry and brittle. There was almost no shine and I was having to throw on hats regularly. (Side note: I love hats, but don’t like having to use them just to hide my hair.) You may have even noticed that I was wearing more hats in my #ootd Instagram posts.
So, I decided to take Pantene’s 14 Day Hair Challenge using their Pantene Repair & Protect Collection. I used the Shampoo and Conditioner as well as the Pantene Ultimate 10 BB Creme. Those were the only products I used the entire time. Before I give the results, here was what each product was supposed to help with:
Pantene Repair & Protect Shampoo
The shampoo contains a conditioning formula that cleanses, but also protects by smoothing the hair cuticle and reinforcing the hair’s outer layer. It also helps reduce copper build-up in hair to prevent oxidative damage.
Pantene Repair & Protect Conditioner
With the same conditioning formula as the shampoo, this conditioner adds an extra layer of protection. My tip? Don’t rinse the conditioner out completely. Actually, you’re not supposed to. You really should only spend about 30 seconds rinsing it out. If your hair is really tangly after your shower, you may have rinsed it for too long.
Ultimate 10 BB Creme
I applied this beauty balm from midway down my hair to the tips. Then, I would take the remainder and run it a little closer to the top of my head (but not the scalp because then my hair gets a little greasy). I used about 1-2 pumps while wet. You can also use it on dry hair, but I never really needed to.
DAY 1
After the first wash, I felt a little bit of a difference in my hair. Maybe it was because my hair was in SERIOUS need of a good cleaning, but still. I noticed a difference, but wasn’t completely sold yet.
DAY 7
The biggest difference I saw by this point was that my flyaways were actually behaving themselves! I have shorter pieces in the front of my face where hair broke off after I went platinum (fun style at the time, but did terrible damage to my hair because I didn’t know how to properly care for such color treated tresses). That hair is usually REALLY hard to tame and I’m forced to put even more heat on it, which then leads to more breakage. Because the flyaways weren’t all over the place, I didn’t have to use as much heat on them. I was also able to run my fingers through my hair in the shower, which I haven’t been able to do in… actually I can’t even remember. I was starting to see improvement and that made me really excited to continue with the challenge.
DAY 10
Noticing my hair is much shiner at this point. In fact the shampoo and conditioner were working so well I only used one pump of the Ultimate 10 Beauty Balm before blow drying. My hair was so silky and shiny we went out and shot some photos! I love taking pictures for the blog and Instagram, but getting my hair photo-ready has always been my least favorite part. Not anymore. My hair actually inspired me to go out and get some photos done early!
DAY 14
Who’s hair does this belong to? My color-treated hair is all of a sudden shinier and silkier. And all this change was from a product you could buy at any grocery store? What?! The best part (besides the confidence boost) is that I didn’t have to spend so much time trying to tame my flyaways or adding a bunch of products to make my hair appear healthy. My hair IS healthy and it saves me so much time getting ready in the morning.
I’m so happy I took part in this challenge, and will continue to use the Pantene Repair & Protect Collection. Also, really pumped that I’ll be going back to my hometown for Christmas with some bomb-diggity hair. I haven’t seen most of those people since I was pregnant, so it’ll be nice to feel confident while showing off my adorable little baby.
Love, Lindsey
