Happy Friday! As we continue to spruce up our new home (can’t wait to show you soon!) I’ve been fixing us some cocktails to make unpacking a little more fun. I’ve come up with three different cocktails using Hug L’Originale (because I typically always have that on hand, even during a move – ha!)
While I typically like to drink Hug L’Originale by itself on ice, it actually tastes really good in other popular cocktail recipes. I’ve paired it with gin and vodka, and traded it for things like cointreau and simple syrup. All these recipes are incredibly easy to make and only require a few ingredients. I felt like a super-snazzy bartender as I made them for The Shmoop and myself. His favorite was The Gimlet. Come to think of it, he never gave me a tip for my bartending skills. Although, he did put my desk together, so I guess that’ll do 🙂
One more thing… I don’t like when recipes call for ounces. Who measures out ounces? Not this pretend bartender, I’ll tell you that much! So instead, I just typed out these recipes as I poured them. Enjoy!
THE HUGGABLE GREYHOUND
1 part Grapefruit Juice
2 parts Vodka (or Gin if you prefer)
I part Hug L’Originale
1 squeeze of lemon wedge
Serve on ice
Garnish: Lemon slice or rosemary sprig
GIMME A HUG GIMLET
2 parts Gin
2 parts Hug L’Originale
Squeeze a quarter of a lime into drink
Shaken with ice
(I lined the rim of the glass with sugar beforehand because, why not?)
Garnish: Lime triangle or circle
CALL ME A CAB COSMIPOLITAN
2.5 parts Vodka
1 part Hug L’Originale
1 part Cranberry juice
Squeeze of lemon
Garnish: Lemon or lime slice
Love, Lindsey
